Why did you become interested in Jags?

One day I was racing a Jag down the road and it slayed me. I was driving a Ford. It was a MkI.

Cars owned

MkII  1964 3.4 manual         Chrysler Royal 1962

Ford Falcon (to tow the van)

Favourite Jaguar:  MkII

Favourite Car: ’58-’59 Ford Customline Star model

Most memorable Jaguar moment

The day I bought my first Jaguar, a 1985 Series 3. (actually the day Ailsa said I could buy it. Good on you Ailsa!) Then driving it home Sydney doing 180 on the freeway.

Worst Jaguar experience

Having to take the head off my MkII. Not once but twice. It was a big worry as I lacked experience with overhead cams. All the valves were bent. Hmm!

I’m glad I …….

Joined the JDCHR. We have made so many good friends.

It’s the best thing we ever did.

I’m sorry I …….

Didn’t put air conditioning and power steering into the MkII.

 What is your Jaguar ambition?

Put air conditioning and power steering into the MkII.

 Current restoration situation.

Michael Palmer has just helped with the head of my car. It has new valves that have been ground with triple angles, K lined guides and the head was skimmed. Now it just runs so sweet. I have also installed Series 3 electronic ignition. The wind noise and door glass rattles have been stopped by adjusting the window scrubbers. Well worth the effort.
