E Type Series III (1971-1974)
The US emission rules throttled the old XK engine to the point where horse power and acceleration figures where no longer quoted. However the Series III was the answer. A 5.3 litre V12 engine, flared wheel arches and more internal space. Modernized the aging E type. However with the extra load
the car became more of a GT than a true sports car. Even with 268 HP the series III could not match the series I for acceleration. |
